She e-mailed me a few minutes ago to let me know that she'd done a post in the Guest Book of 'Mint's online memorial. I'll post the contents here, or you can go back to the site and view it yourself.
--------------------------------------
First of all, I want to say “Thank you” to everyone that visited the website and especially to those people who left messages. I knew that Bob was in communication with an online community and thought that a website memorial might be a good idea. But I had no idea. I had no idea of what caring, thoughtful people were in this community. I had no idea how many people knew him and whom he touched. Your messages just overwhelmed our family and me.
On Friday, May 23 Bob’s ashes were interred at a service with military honors at the new Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. However, I know that many of you will be pleased to know that while we were waiting for the service to begin, we realized that something more needed to be done. Using some other tools in the car, my husband “liberated” some of Bob’s ashes from the official tightly sealed urn into a coffee can. I will be bringing these ashes to Chicago and to a Cub’s game this summer. We are working on a plan of how to release these ashes onto Wrigley field. I know this would make Bob very happy.
The inscription on Bob’s headstone will read “You enriched and brightened our lives. Rest in Peace”.
Once again, thank you all,
Helen Walka Dake
