An Ode to Two-Finger Scrolling
#1
I thought it was gimmicky until I tried it in earnest. Two-Finger Scrolling is the best human-interface development since the mouse. I predict the iPhone's implementation of similar tech will be the single greatest 'gee-whiz' factor the product offers.

Mark my words.

If you're not feelin' me on this, open a Photoshop doc at 100% on your MacBook / Pro and start editing and shifting as if you had a huge hard-copy on the table in front of you.

I agree. I used to think UControl was sliced bread, but 2 finger scrolling is amazing, and very intuitive.

When I had to use one of my friend's Vista laptops it drove me crazy that the scroll thing was on the right hand side and difficult to use.

Yeah, I really like it too. Only been using it for a couple weeks.

found this via google: http://everythingapple.blogspot.com/2005...world.html

I also found this, which enables such scrolling on older powerbooks!

I hate moving back and forth between my personal MBP and my work PC laptop precisely because the PC doesn't have two-finger scrolling. If I had a dollar for every time I've unconsciencely tried to use it on the PC, I wouldn't have to work and could spend all my time using it on my MBP. :-)

Sorry, IBM keyboards with the scroll button still kick all ass. I really wish apple had a pink nipple in their laptops. Coupled with the "scroll" button, the combo beats two-finger scrolling hands-down.

Fingers down sorry.

It's OK.
I still like five-finger discounts better.

With recent Apple laptops, you put two fingers on the trackpad to scroll within any window... vertical or horizontal--if the cursor is positioned over a scroll-able window, you can scroll.

I feel limited when working on my desktop, by not having a trackpad to massage.
