I tossed him a meaty raw rib bone, his first ever, and he looked at me, "You want me to do what with that thing?" Back to kibbles I s'ppose.
Is our terrier mutt a dog?

You may have to show him what to do with it.

If the dog in question is in your sig's pic...well, I hate to say it but that ain't no real dog. You've de-canined it.

Don't be fooled by that sad puppy face and the pink shirt, IronMac. He's a tough lit' guy, i.e. got me all worried when he growled at a pitbull at a pet shop!

Hmmmm. Maybe he knew that rib bones aren't really good ones for dogs. Those bones are rather soft and have a tendency to splinter. Once they do, then the dogs like getting at the marrow and could wind up swallowing sharp pieces of bone, which isn't a good thing. I think the only bone Louie has ever had was one of the really big, hard ones from a chunk of Easter ham.

Give that dog a (smaller) bone.
If he still won't touch it, you might try pressing some of his kibble into the meat. If he's still too haughty for it, start w/the meat cut up and mixed in w/the kibble. That, he'll eat. Then you can gradually progress to teach him how to eat like a real canine.
