Nifty (and free) solution for those with kids

where you can control what your kids (don't) see. It is easy to set up and filters out the sites you don't want your kids to see. Check out the filter:



Among other things, you can set up shortcuts so that you can type in a few characters so that you can get to another site quickly. I have it set up when I type in g and hit enter, it goes to google and when I hit the y key and enter, it goes to my yahoo mail.

This may be counter-productive to some on this forum, but I said this is for those here with kids.

Funny, this was actually brought up last night as a solution to help speed up internet connections. I have been running it for 12 hours now and it seems a bit faster, but who knows.

Reminds me of a Ray Romano bit from his standup routine.

When he was on the road, he stayed at various hotels. One night, while looking for something to watch, he discovered the hotel had pay-per-view adult movies. He started reading the titles (I forget them, but it was plays on movie titles; "On Golden Blonde" and the like) and he came to one that said, "Block - Adult Movies" and he thought, wow, I can order a whole block of them. So he clicked it and the menu went away.

He realized what he had done, and what was he going to do? "When that rocket ship is ready to blast off... guys in the audience know, there's no stopping that countdown..." He couldn't call up the 20 something girl at the front desk and ask her to unblock his porn. So he did what any guy would have done.

He switched rooms.

"I became a smoker that night," he said.
