I am still using Office X

I have not upgraded to 2004 and also I don't plan to upgrade to 2008. Am I missing any breakthrough features or functionality?

Not really. Office 2004 is a bit more stable and allows for longer file naming. Other than that I can't tell any difference between the two. The only reason I plan on upgrading to 2008 is because it will be snappier on my Intel machines.

Ha, I thought I was the only one left on Office v. X! Actually, if you have an IPhone you are missing out. It doesn't play with Office X's address book...so I have to export my contacts to Address Book in order to get them on the iPhone. That's about the only disadvantage I can think of unless you're on Intel.

no, I am not on intel. also I don't have an iphone. and don't use the office address book. I didn't even know it had one. where is it, in Entourage? I don't use it.

maybe the only reason to get 2008 is if I go intel (which I will do in about one year). How bad is office X under Rosetta?

Still using Office v.X here, too, but that may change soon -- I got in on that great BF deal for Office 2004 (only to get the cheap upgrade to Office 2008, though).

Yeah, I was going to say there will be several people here who will have Office 2004 available for sale ... sometime around mid-Dec. Smile

should I mention that I never paid $0.01 to Microsoft?

the Office X software was a "gift" from the university. We got free software and the license said something like "students are allowed to keep the software for personal use when they leave the university".

same here.

the Office X that I got was a supposed "trial" version with my iMac G4 lamp model. well, that was nearly 7 years ago... working fine!

Office v.X here as well. I will, however, be getting Office 2008.

Office v.X here too. The employee store changed their policy regarding software usage, otherwise I would have upgraded by now. Longer file naming is an absolute must. I will be getting at least one upgrade copy of 2008. Too bad I missed out on the BF deal.
