Ice Storm!
#1
Here in southern Iowa, we are experiencing an ice storm. It's still raining, and the ice is getting thicker and more solid. The temps are supposed to rise, so it might go away, but right now the winds have come up, and when outside, I could hear the popping of trees. I hope the power stays on, but if it doesn't, I still have a great wood stove and lots of wood. It's nice and toasty inside.

Uh oh - we're supposed to have sleet later today. I hope we don't get the ice.

Better test start the portable generator and get some kerosene just in case ... and beer too!

No trees limbs breaking here. Right now the wind isn't blowing too hard. Power lines aren't dancing.

Hate ice storms.

Back in South Dakota in 1995 we had a terrible ice storm. Lost 2,000 utility poles in our county. People just outside of town were without power for almost a month. In town; we lost power for 5 hours.

Ugh . . . forgot about this effect. My Sycamore is about 10 years overdue for trimming . . .

It's 75 degrees in New Braunfels, TX, with an expected low tonight of 63. A week ago we had three successive nights near freezing. High tomorrow is expected to be 80.

It is 3:30 in the afternoon here in Western Mass. and the sun is shining. But there is a breeze and the temperature is only 23. I almost would prefer ice coming down, that would mean it was warmer outside.
