Sorry, he doesn't name names, but his analysis of the question itself is IMO, insightful:

I don't have to read a column to know who Friedman is voting for and who cares anyway. He said only if oil went for $100 our energy problems would be solved. Well, it went to $140 and the whole economy ground to halt. What did the country reap from this "bonanza". Now he says we must keep gas at $4 a gallon and wishes we were China for one day. His "world is flat" idea hasn't panned out either. Why is he such a revered figure anyway?

Dakota - you've set up an interesting cause and effect. high energy prices certainly won't help us short term - do you really think that friedman thought it would be like winning the lotto? no, a period of pain while we retool and then we do much better.

where are your clothes from? my us based company is deploying software in india and other asian markets.
its fine if you want to refute him but you're working with strawman arguments.

I am not talking about shirts and socks. One of his arguments for flat earth was that since you can do software anywhere in the world, there will be no jobs for CS/CPE majors. WRONG! They are in demand more than ever. He, like many of his ilk, think small. There are things Indians can do and there are a whole lot more only we can do here.

I believe Mr. Friedman was thinking a bit further into the future. News of the death of his flat earth may be premature.

Dakota has too much fee time to listen to AM radio. That will cure itself in the near future when he takes on that second and third job just to stay even.
