Useless Poll #512: Do you wear a watch?
#1
I wear a watch and have since I was a child. Neither my husband nor my daughter feel the need. My dad always wore a watch but not my mom. I feel naked without one, but it seems that many people don't wear a watch.

I suppose many people now use their cell phones to keep track of the time, but I still like having a watch on my wrist. Is it just us type A, never want to be late people, or do most of you wear a watch? Just curious.

No, I used to but just don't see the need anymore with a cellphone.

Sometimes. When I go out, typically. When I'm sitting at a computer, never.

I often end up in locations with no cell service. So using them as a clock is pointless.

Yep. Same as you, rgG; arm feels weird w/o one. Think it could be a generational thing since none of my kids or their friends wear watches nor do they want to.

Always wear one. I agree that it feels weird without one.

I wear a watch. I think of a watch as an accessory just like a ring or a bracelet. Because of that, I have a large collection of inexpensive watches of various styles and colors, instead of one or two really good watches. Too large a collection, I think: I can't seem to resist a fun watch that is on sale.

Some days I do.

My 1st choice is an old Ingraham Swiss-made watch that belonged to my grandfather.
It's a windup watch. Sometimes the band (the metal expandable type) grabs my arm hairs. Not a big fan of that.

I like unusual watches, but don't have to budget to collect. I bought an artsy Spoon Pulsar on ebay a few years ago, got a great deal. It's this one:

I have a really nice watch that I received from my wife as a wedding present. I used to wear it constantly, but now I use my cell phone and only wear the watch when I dress up (i.e. it's being used as a decoration) or am going to be in a place where fiddling with a cell phone is awkward.
