Useless Poll #512: Do you wear a watch?

[quote mattkime]watches are for people who don't own cell phones
I don't have a cell phone, and I don't wear a watch.

Mostly yes in the winter (long sleeves). Almost never in the summer (polo shirts).

My big purchase of 1974:

Just curious... are you married?

Because if I became that way, my wife would kill me and I'd be a 'type R.I.P.' person.
Alas, not any more.

It's nice to set up a table saw in the living room and not have anyone complain. :-)
(especialy when you pile up Christmas presents on top of it)
and the sawdust from Thanxgiving weekend is still there.
in January.

I once wore a watch and had a pocketwatch chained to my belt.
I have a shoebox full of watches and timepieces somewhere.

[quote BigGuynRusty]CellPhones, How Rude!
Thats the first time I've heard cell phone rudeness extended to simply looking looking at the device!

Then again, the boring, long-winded old man is probably still frightened by this confusing new technology.

I don't wear a watch or any other form of jewelry/accessory. Too fussy.

Only when I am on , in, or under the water.

Otherwise no.

I did in my teens, but then in my 20's and early 30's did not.

In the past few months, though, as I've been dressing more professionally (shirt and tie, that is), I've started wearing my watch more. Just took the pic below:

Prior to starting up with the watch again--and even now when I don't wear it--I use my cell phone. Cell phone's may make good watch replacements, but mine sure doesn't make a good camera replacement. That picture stinks!

Always, except at work- infection issues with the babies.
I carry a cell phone, but hardly ever check the time with it.

yes. because it is a remote control watch so I can turn the TVs off at the bar when the amatuer drinkers make the place noisy on game night.

I wear watches because I need to keep track of time when on the job, and because I love watches.

Some are jewelry for me. Almost all analog; a few are digital when and where function precedes form.

But a clean, simple elegant analog watch is a thing of beauty, I do have a couple of chronographs, too.

That's a pretty arrogant and biased (not to mention a tad hate-oriented) leap to a conclusion.

Where you in his place, I'm sure you'd have *no* problem trying to conduct business while your subordinates are busy check the phones for the time, text, messages, new e-mail... It becomes obvious that these people are distracted and/or don't GAF.

It then becomes your duty to see that the remainder do.

It is also rude to be using a watch to check the time in some instances, but at least it can be done fairly covertly, and not be a distraction to anyone.
