Yeah, harder to find parallels deals. However, i find it worth the cash. Was talking to a friend last night who uses Fusion. He likes it and it is fast. However, the integration with Mac OS is not there as compared to Parallels. He cannot drag and drop from one desktop to the other. He cannot get rid of the Win desktop and "run Windows apps from Mac OS".

To me, that's worth the price of admission. =) YMMV

I'd check out eBay.

Maybe he needs to apply an update. In Fusion, he should be able to go to View: Unity.

So, is there a consensus on which product to get? Forgetting for a moment the price advantage of Fusion. Clear winner either way?

I have been using Parallels 3.0/XP Pro on my Mac Pro for the last 3 months. I had a few unexpected quits and a few Windows errors (don't know if that's normal or not) but for the most part; it has worked fine for me.

It's a little sluggish at times. Not Virtual PC slow but you notice things slowing down on processor intensive tasks.

One problem that is very annoying is after using Parallels for a while; I get lines across the screen in the Windows window. They if you scroll you end up with many lines. The only way to get rid of this is to reboot and wonder when it's going to happen again.

I am using it in the production of a 120 page monthly publication. The publisher started it on a PC and wants to keep it PC based (yuck). The job pays well so I live by that rule.

I like the idea of being able to use OS X and Windows at the same time but I want speed. All out speed...no slowdown whatsoever. I could run Windows through Boot Camp but then I don't have access to the Mac desktop without rebooting.

I am seriously considering buying a cheaper dedicated PC run this job on. That way I get the benefits of having my Mac desktop available at all times and I get maximum speed while using the PC.

I'm still working on my review. Parallels provided me with a review kit and since they were kind enough to do that for me, ye ol unestablished blogger, I decided to take a bit more time and also see if I could get such a thing from VMWare as well so I can ensure my testing is accurate and unbiased.
