I've been looking at that same MacBook at Amazon, but I just can't make myself pull the trigger, yet.

rgG, I'm in the same boat. My solution is to think of other things (like a new guitar) that I'd rather buy.

I hear you. I have a 4 year old G4 iBook that I keep thinking of replacing, but I am just not sure that I need to. I use it mainly for couch surfing and travel (infrequently) so my demands on it are not high. My daughter would like to take the iBook as her own, if I get a Macbook, but I just can't make up my mind. I really wanted a sub-notebook to be introduced instead of the Air, then I would have been all over that. Now I need to decide if I should wait and hope for a sub or just get a MacBook. Decisions, decisions. That Amazon price is really tempting though, with free shipping and no tax and compared to the mid-level price of the new ones... ![]() Whippet, Whippet Good

how much? how much tax?
Macbook 2.2GHz $1,095 after rebate $1069 from Amazon -- NEW, no tax to many states, free shipping

Well, I expected no tax, but they're charging me anyway, it looks like--
$1,056.44 total 57.44 tax I don't like rebates, so this is probably better for me--and I'm going to spring for AppleCare anyway, so the "double your warranty via your credit card" doesn't really affect me. And I'm still hoping for that silent upgrade.....

I bought an iPod touch instead.

apple charges tax to every state that has it
and the rebate at amazon is all electronic, done right after you buy it, super simple...
