What would have happened if California only held one primary this year...

California is having another primary election on June 3rd. The Presidential primary was moved up to Feb 5th this year, ostensibly to give Californians a "voice" in deciding who the Presidential nominees would be.

Is there anything ironic about about this now considering the current race between Clinton and Obama?

Which is it? Feb 5th, or June 3rd?

You said it was moved up to Feb 5th. But said in previous sentence it's June 3rd. Or is there a difference between a primary election and a Presidential primary election?

The normal California primary elections have almost always been held in June. In Presidential election years in the past that primary was held with the other primaries. For example, winning in California was what put RFK over the top for the Democratic nomination in '68, that is what they were celebrating when he was shot. This year they moved up just the presidential primary to Feb.

Moving the presidential primary up almost guarantees a record low turnout for the state primary, it's not real hard to figure out who that benefits.

Incumbents - Not all politicians are incumbents, just want to be the next time around.

That was apparently hard for the guy with all the strings to grasp. When your party is exposed bring out that big brush and paint them all. It's weak but when it's all that's left...

Hard to have a party exposed when you don't have one in the first place. You mean your party, right? I'm not in California, and am thankfully unaffiliated in my own state. Unlike the guy with the spinning basketball and the drinking problem, I have no ideological, partisan, or party investment either way. I'm still trying to figure out how the California primary can be both in February and June. The result of reading a post that aimed mainly at other Californians. One primary for state, one for national?

Here's what my question was about. Californians voted for Hillary with around a 10% margin in February.

What, if any consequences were there to holding the Presidential primary four months early?

Yes, historical what ifs have little meaning, but it sure is fun to speculate.
