Every morning I am tight tight tight. I can barely walk, feet, legs, back, neck, shoulders, arms etc. I spend 30 minutes stretching and then I feel pretty normal and can go about my day. I don't think this is normal for a 37 year old though. Could I have some vitamin deficiency that is causing my muscles to clench up at night?

Ok, I'm googling all around and I see that vitamin D and/or magnesium could help me. Are there particular brands that I should stick with or are they all as good?

Low calcium will do that (and always take calcium and magnesium together, in a 2/1 ratio).
Also, you can try the amino acids GABA and Inositol--you can get them at a health food store. They make some folks a bit sleepy, so try them out on an empty stomach before you go to sleep (i.e., 2 hours after you've eaten anything). Some folks get a bit of stomach upset for the first week or so. Try maybe 1000 mg of Inositol, 500 mg of GABA. You want plain old inositol, not inositol hexanicotinate.

I take magnesium supplements due to a deficiency and have found that they all work pretty much the same, another option is taking a warm bath with a couple of cups of Epsom Salts dissolved in the water, you will absorb the magnesium through your skin.

I am not sure if it is the same, but I seem to be much more susceptible to cramping up when I eat a lot of carbs (junk food like chips and doughnuts) and do not get enough potassium (bananas). I noticed it went away when I reduced carbs and increased protien on low carb diet. After a couple of days I am able to start exercising without as much warming up.

Taking any meds that can be related to causitive effects like these ?
Sounds a bit extreme for any age, let alone 37.

Calcium and magnesium are the 2 obvious ones. If you buy magnesium, don't get Magnesium Oxide. It's cheap, but doesn't absorb well.
