Simple way to include Letterhead in Word Documents
#1
I'm trying to create a sort of a template in M Word that has my letterhead in place plus document formatting for estimates, invoices, letters etc...with decimal tabs and proper margins for the word processing space of the document.

Most of my letterhead falls outside the actual word processing margins...above the top margin and to the left of the Left margin.

What's the easiest way to accomplish this?

I did this with stationary pad some years ago.
It has my letterhead logo and a form with tab stops for my invoice.
The tabs represent hours and costs.
I gave up when it came to automating the math as it might be done with Excel.

My math is fairly simple so I can just deal with that.

It's the formatting and having my letterhead (in reasonably decent color) in place and then being able to type the document etc...

I didn't spend much time trying to create one, but do a quick test and see if you can format the body of the document within a single table cell (with visible border removed, of course!) That would allow you to maintain document margins of the size needed to accommodate the letterhead, with a separate set of "margins" within the confines of the table cell. It's possible the ability to format within the single cell might be too limiting for your estimates and invoices, but it's worth a little experimenting.

I have come to the conclusion that in words current state, there is no "simple way" to do anything.

I have been using Macs & PCs for 25+ years and Word is my vote for worst software.

If it's something relatively simple that's just across the top of the page, save it as a jpg & insert it that way.

I did this a while back, but I don't use word anymore. Best that I can remember, I put a text box into the header and locked it's position. It was quite tricky and I am sorry that I can't help more.

I would really consider Apple's Pages. I have found it well worth the money.

Print your letterhead on paper using your program of choice or order it preprinted from a print shop.

Then load the paper supply of your printer with the letterhead paper.

Tominator,

The issue I'm trying to solve is that of online forms...when I'm sending quotes or biz letters as attachments in email...It'd be nice to present all this correspondence on a letterhead.

Printing is fine, no problems printing to my existing, printed letterhead and invoice forms.
