Excerpt:

"HTC Touch
Darren Gladstone, senior writer: T-Mobile has cheesed me off with its lousy data service for the last time! That's why I've earmarked some cash for a new phone (the HTC Touch) and a new carrier (Sprint, you'd better be good to me -- don't hose me with hidden costs). The Touch is a sweet little device, and -- I hate to say it -- I find this Windows Mobile 6 cell a lot more useful than the *cough* iPhone *cough* (he says, while bracing for hateful comments from iFollowers).

Of course, my master plan could run into one little snag: upgraded Touches. The unlocked HTC Touch Dual comes to GSM carriers through Best Buy at the end of May. And then there's the recently unveiled Touch Diamond, which will make the iPhone cringe when it launches later this year. The way I see it, I have two choices: Squirrel away my hush money until the dollar is actually worth more than kindling, or just let my newfound greenbacks "trickle down" to Bay Area bartenders. Decisions, decisions …"

... when are these people ever going to learn?

I hate Microsoft products, they are typically inferior to any other product in the same sphere.

That said the chance that I would stop using my HTC phone running WM for anything else is at this point is ZERO. I prefer the actual usability of a real mobile computer and not a DRM laden locked down consumer toy, ie the iphone.

World GSM, Wi-Fi b/g, BT, IR, GPS, touch screen, real keyboard, voice command, memory card slot, removable battery, USB charging and flash drive like drag and drop access to files all over 2 years before the iphone for $200 w/ service.

Not having to use an DRM laden MP3 player (iTunes) to manage my phone, PRICELESS.

itunes does NOT put any DRM on your songs, never has, not sure where you are getting that?

many (but not all) songs SOLD on the itunes are saddled with DRM, but its not Apple choice --- remember this from over a year ago?: http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughtsonmusic/

BTW, i love your "I prefer the actual usability of a real mobile computer and not a DRM laden locked down consumer toy, ie the iphone." line, almost sounds like you work for PCWorld magazine. Wink

you know, many people say macs are a "consumer toy" as well

It's amazing how may people think that iTunes will only use drm laden songs from the iTunes store.

Voice command on your phone? Is that voice dialing, or more along the lines of,

"KITT! TURBO BOOST!"
