In Mail 2, outbound messages get stuck in Outbox

OS 10.4.2 on a dual 1.25 G4 tower.

I'm on dial-up. I don't know if that matters. Sometimes I can restart Mail and then they'll go through, but usually they don't. Sometimes, they sit there a long time before they go out.

Have you made sure that in Mailbox/ the Online Status is ON for that mailbox?

It's online. I'm dumping all my emails that are at the ISP server right now.
