Geeks.com comes through
#1
I ordered a power supply from geeks.com and even though it was a PITA to have the damned unit burn out on me (in about 2-3 hours from installation), I thought that it would be pain to have it replaced/RMA'd.

I sent an email to geeks.com about the ps burning out...they are sending a replacement to me free of charge and I do not have to send the old one back to them. WTG Geeks!

Now people out there...do NOT abuse geeks, please. I was just a bit surprised and am glad to report a good occurence.

Take it apart and see if you can spot the damaged component. If you can fix it, you will have a spare.

Could be that they just know that it is a POS and sent another POS out to make you happy.

Well, that is a pleasant surprise. The one time I had a defective/RMA issue, it tooks weeks to resolve. But that was years ago.

I think the mark-up on some of that stuff is in the hundreds of percent, so sending a second out and writing the first one off was no big deal.

I was at a local PC shop to get an ATX PS for my POS P-III and their website said $20 for the PS, but they were labeled as $35 in store. I pointed it out and he sold it to me for $20.

The PS arrived. It's a 550 watt unit to replace my 500 watt unit.

Who knows if it's a POS. It's a backup for the kids' pc regardless. I wouldn't let it get anywhere near my mac. ;-)
