First Post from Mac Mini!
#1
monday i picked up a refreshed 1.42 mac mini at the apple store for $529.

wednesday my Viewsonic 19"widescreen lcd arrived but i wasn't home.

today, this moment, it's all hooked up and running. installing software updates now. the mini itself is soooooo quiet which is what i was seeking. this viewsonic monitor is a thing of beauty.

i'm going out of town for a few weeks so i won't transfer things until i get back but right now, i'm a pretty happy mac camper!

the mini stack is interesting in that i may need more usb ports. but the 80GB hard drive is plenty for me since i've only used 24 on my 4 year emac. i'm leaning toward maxing out the memory first.

Agreed on the RAM expansion but, when it's time for a hub/external HD, you can't go wrong with the miniStack. That plus it's a much faster drive than the mini's -- you'll get a performance boost that way as well.

Are people booting from the ministack to get a performance boost or are they just using it for external storage?

Booting from the miniStack. The internal mini's drive is 4200 or 5400, depending. The miniStack is 7200 with a bigger cache. Check out OWC's page on the miniStack.
