G5 dual 2.0 rev B (June 2004)- sources for power supply?

After having been replaced under an Applecare warranty that expired about a year ago, it seems the power supply in my dual G5 has given up the ghost. (Starting today, it self shut-down half a dozen times and now won't stay lit up of more than a few seconds.)

If there's a proper source of a reliable replacement, I could take a crack at it myself.

Any suggestions on a source for that subassembly, or other suggestions on how to approach this short of bringing it in for pro service?I found a few sources on Google but thought someone here might want to suggest a source that they've been happy with in the past. Also, a source for a take-apart diagram or tutorial would be great.

I make my living with this machine and need to get up and going ASAP. Thanks.

I had a Dual G5 2.0 that started doing that, and I also suspected I needed a new power supply. So I bought one from a company selling on eBay under the user name "wefixmacs". They seemed reasonable, and emailed me a PDF of installation instructions.

But before it arrived, I got a new motherboard battery from OWC, and popped that in. Sure enough that was all it needed - no more random or immediate shutdowns! If you haven't already tried that route, then you may be able to save a lot of time and money. If you have already tried that, well, feel free PM me about an unused PSU that's taking up closet space in my office. I've since given my G5 away, so it's not very useful to me. That's a good tip, Sparky.

That's one thing I try to keep track of. One of the first things I do when working on older computers for the first time. I figure the battery lasts about 4 years and then it's time to replace.

Like I said, I will certainly give that a go, but I haven't seen a situation where the battery actually caused the machine to just shut itself down. In the old days the loss of the battery would cause the machine to forget certain boot-up prefs & the time, etc.
