Old HP LaserJet 6MP: 40k+ page count?
#1
Have an opportunity to pick up an old HP LJ 6MP, but it's page count is over 41,000. I have an even older (probably) LJ 4ML, but it's only at about 15,700. It also is only 300dpi vs 600 for the 6MP, and the 6MP has 9MB RAM in it.

So the bottom line question: what's the upper limit for number of pages I could expect to get out of the 6MP before having to try and find replacement parts for it? In your minds, is it worth it?

Oh, and we haven't even talked price. I looked at completed auctions on ebay, and found a range of $25-50, depending on page count, etc. I'm thinking of offering $35, based on the extra toner cart. included and the extra RAM.

Thoughts?

hundreds of thousands is not uncommon on those.

I'd jump at it for $35, but that is me.

200,000 before the rubber roller/belt will need replaced.

The rest will still be in great shape. I recently saw a LJ 4 with 1.5 million on it (guy wanted $15 for it). Now THAT was text looking somewhat light and dirty --- but that was understandable!

Thanks all. I grabbed it this afternoon. $40, including an unopened toner cartridge (dated from '02 though). It sounds a little squeaky when it prints, think I'll have it cleaned....

I'm happy.
