Banana in left hand, cell phone in right- are you really driving?
#1
Dear sir in the car next to me on the road this evening,
Congratulations on your advanced multitasking skills, but driving on a wet road at night generally demands a little more dedication than your little pinky-finger can afford.

Perhaps we should install a bluetooth turn-signal controller in your car so you can take it to the next level. Or maybe just text "LEFT TURN" if you intend to turn left or "RIGHT TURN" if you intend to turn right, and you car will do the rest for you. This way you don't have to jeopardize your nutritive needs while the rest of us focus on not getting killed by idiot drivers.

Have a good one!

It's called knee-driving.

Is "banana" code for something else?

I mean, if so then ya gotta give the guy props!

Is it a "fruit" banana or .... the other kind? Neither would qualify as really driving but one even less so than the other. Especially if it's Mistress Olga on the phone.

I once saw a woman in the car next to me, on her cell phone, start to drive the car with her elbows so she could swing her hands about as she was talking.

Pretty much then I realized that, as a civilization, it's just about all over.

Take heart. Governor Arnold has now made texting while driving anything (like a train) illegal. That should make the families of the dead feel better.

Southern Pacific Railroad has an ability to install "deadman switches" at each and every turnout or red light. They won't. Years ago these switches were commonly used to avoid two trains on one track headon collisions.

They worked then and would work now but the railroads don't think it's worth the money it would cost.
