if you have the room, it's convenient to have a computer in the kitchen. my eMac 700 lives on my rather large kitchen table.
btw, an eMac 700 with 256Ram and Tiger is not a happy camper. very sluggish. more ram and Panther make it much peppier.

agreed, 256MB isn't gonna cut it.
add a 512 (or two) and it'd be much happier.

Just stay away from the 1.25 eMacs. Still way too many unrepaired units out there.

Nice deal for a child's first computer. You don't have to worry about and LCD getting messed up by little fingers. I got my 5 year old a 1Ghz eMac a couple of years ago. It needed some work on it and I was able to repair it with parts from eBay. It actually replaced a 700Mhz eMac prior to that I sold on Craigslist.
