Glossy LCD and white line on top of most windows

Sometimes I use my wife's MacBook (glossy screen) and I still have mized feelings about the glossy LCD. I think I see a fine white line on top of most windows. here is where it is most obvious

Open Spaces. Now you have 4 "spaces" with about 1/2" black border in between. Look carefully at the edges of these spaces. Left, Right and Bottom look normal to me. But at the top of each window I see a very faint white line. Almost like there was an extra row of pixels.

I am looking straight at the screen and it is very obvious. I also notice it on any other open window, but in Spaces it it more obvious due to teh black background.

Do you notice the same thing? or it is just something wrong with this display?

Assuming it's still under warranty, it's time for you to call Applecare.

it is, but I wonder if it is indeed a defect or it's just the way the glossy screens work. The line is very fine, and I have no other glossy screen to compare to.

My matte Powerbook certainly does not have this.

No, it's not.

That very fine line you see is probably one pixel wide. It's part of the shading/3D look of Apple windows, as though a light were shining down on the frame.

You don't mention what other computers you don't see it on, but any matte screen will certainly add some distortion to the image, diffusing it enough that you either won't notice it, or won't see it altogether.
