What kind of mics were those at the early Newport Folk Festivals?

You know, those round ones that stood straight up like an ice cream cone. You see them in documentaries with Dylan, Seeger, Johnny Cash, etc.

Whatever they were, they weren't capable of dealing with the sound of Dylan's new sound when he showed up to sing "Maggie's Farm."

Are you sure it wasn't a custom microphone?

It's possible it's a custom mic, I guess. I have seen 3 of them on the stage at Newport in film clips. Also, I think I remember Dylan using it at another venue. I doubt if Newport would have used Dylan's mic for everyone else at Newport. I think I have also seen a smaller version in pictures, but it could have just been context or perspective. I am guessing it is an omni-directional mic due to its shape and that several singers would gather around it.

They look like aluminum when I see them on TV and they don't look like they have holes like an SM-58 windscreen would have.
