Thoughts on refurb Dyson?
#1
Fry's has the Dyson DC17 on sale for $199 + $7 shipping. It is a refurbished unit, and Fry's has no details available on length or terms of warranty. I've read a mixed bag on reviews of refurb Dyson's elsewhere. Just wondering who here has gambled on a refurb Dyson?

I did and it worked great. The warranty was around 90 days. It would still be working years later if my pet rabbit hadn't feasted on the power cord Smile I'd go for it.

The refurb DC17 I bought for $225 delivered from Amazon about 4 months ago is perfect, just had to empty the dirt on Wednesday for the first time.

And you could note distinguish it from a brand new unit FWIW. Just like getting a refurb Mac - pristine, all plastics replaced.

I appreciate the responses and glad to hear no problems and you felt it was a good deal. My main concern is the "what if" scenario of something not working, or breaking within the warranty period and the possible hoops I'd have to jump through to get it fixed. (This seems to be the most common complaint against these refurbs.) Dyson doesn't do the warranty work on their refurbs, the buyer it seems is at the mercy of a 3rd party or the factory that does the refurb.

The Dyson I bought from Frys last year looked brand new except for a broken plastic tab that held in one of the filters. I called the help number for Dyson in the included paperwork and they quickly identified the part and mailed it to me. I had it in hand and was vacuuming 2 days later.

BTW a very good vacuum.
