So I was playing World of Warcraft and all the sudden there was a couple brief flickers in a line across the bottom half of the screen. I exited WoW and noticed the same thing on my desktop. I rebooted and zapped the PRAM and it seemed to be ok - but then went back to playing WoW and now it's flickering again.
Oy Vay! I guess I just have bad luck or something.
Ugh

Guess I'll be calling Apple.

Based on the real-world reports I've read from owners of the new iMacs, it appears there may be a cooling problem with the processor, GPU, or both on some machines.

Is there any protective plastic sheeting on the iMac that needs to be removed?

I canceled my MacConnection i5 order after reading of many accounts of screen issues on the 27" iMacs on MacRumors.
I imagine they'll get these sorted out in a few months.
I've been burned previously on Rev A stumbles with the iMac G5 & MacBook.

There's a bunch of reports of problems on these--not to overstate it.
Recommended (in order of increasing PITA-ness):
Reset PRAM
Install 10.6.2
Reinstall software from disk that came with your iMac
Return to nearest Apple store for repair/replacement.

I experience the same sort of video issues in WoW on my 24" white iMac. My research indicates that the issue is due to updated video drivers that were introduced with one of the later revisions to Leopard; the WoW Mac support forum has a couple of long threads about this issue. My experience supports this, as I did not have the problem with earlier revisions of Leopard. I plan to install Snow Leopard on the iMac over the holiday weekend; I'd hoped that might solve the problem, but Jerry's post indicates it probably won't.
