Would a mac Table computer be a hit or miss?

I've been reading articles that say a MISS even tho apple puts out innovative products this is not time for a tablet...which are not selling well elsewhere. (other companies)

Why does a table need to cost $10,000? $1000 for a 46" screen, lay it down flat, hook up a $300 Dell mini 9, and use a $200 laser virtual keyboard/touchscreen.
