Whatever fractional amount of added clarity that might come with a glossy screen is completely negated once the computer is taken outside.
I thought it might be fun to take the Dell Mac mini 9 out to the front porch while waiting on my mail-lady. Wireless reception is excellent & the screen is bright enough to be readable if not for the horrible reflections.

"Gee, there are never any reflections on mine".
Glossy screens are perfect.

Have you tried an LED screen outside yet?

On the other hand, I find matte screens to be even harder to see outside because they absorb and reflect all the sunlight in a big blur... rather than just having the screen image overlayed with reflections as in the mini 9.
I took mine outside the other day and was similarly disappointed.

It's hard to get the screen to be brighter than the sun for very long.

Just was in the Apple store looking at the new 13" Macbook Pro.
I still have the same very negative feelings about the Glossy screen.

Exactly.
