tips 4 successfully moving iphoto/itunes library to external hard drive?
#1
as i migrate from a desktop g5imac/1tb hard drive to my mbp santa rosa/160 hard drive, i will need to either replace the hard in the mbp (which may or may not void my applecare) or learn to move my itunes/iphoto libraries to an external drive.

anyone care to share a foolproof (please don't say the obvious :confusedSmile method to move both libraries to an external hard drive?

to those who already have their iphoto/itunes libraries on external drives, do your libraries reside together on the same drive or do u use separate drives for the itunes and the iphoto libraries?

thanks in advance to those who care to share

After you move, be sure to get MIA from Doug's scripts for iTunes. It will identify any missing tracks.

I just copied everything to the external drive. Then pointed iTunes to that location (go to preferences, advance and just locate the new folder on the drive)

Considering the time it takes to rip DVD's I went to a mirrored RAID drive. That way if a hard drive craps out I have the backup saved.

I think it was even easier for the iPhoto Library: I just moved the entire library to the new location then launched iPhoto. It then requested me to locate the library.
