hummingbird movie
#1
This went on for hours in my backyard this past Saturday. I watched for about 20 minutes, thinking I should go get my camera. They were gone by the time I got back outside with it but eventually returned & resumed their dance.

There's nothing quite so beautiful as the fluttering of hummingbirds, either in their mating dance or in a territorial dispute. They're such delicate, precious creatures.

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. Almost otherworldly.

You need a second feeder. Those 2 were fighting for the claim of ownership for this one.

I was going to say the same thing...

Gawd, are they fast, or what? They look like normal birdies, just in super fast forward.

That feeder is 1 of 5 in my backyard & a similar dance was taking place at another one a few feet away.
There could be a dozen feeders & they'd still fight over 'em.

I had to rescue one that flew into the house last night - she was up in one of the skylight - about 12 feet up - I finally got her to sit on one of the LONG dusters and shook her off outside. They have such high metabolisms, I doubt she would have made it through the night.

Cool movie.

I rescued one that got into the house. I gently cupped it in my hands. Virtually weightless, like holding a beam of light.

Sonata was a nice touch.

There were moments when it seemed like they were listening.

And moments when it seemed like they were channeling the Battle of Britain.
