Aaaarrrgghh... Local KFC's are Kaput - now I want some Extra Crispy!
#1
Dang it..
They closed the only two KFC's around here a few days ago.. (I've been too lazy to find out why..), and now I've been thinking about how good a three-piece Extra Crispy, with a side of cole-slaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a biscuit would be...

That, and flashing back to the "Chicken Little" sandwich... Damn those were good! I remember when they were .49 each (which was a LONG time ago..), and friends and I would pool our money and get 20 or 30 of them in the drive through and snack on 'em for hours.
And yes, we're all overweight now...

I wonder when they discontinued the "Chicken Little"?

Whoa. Wonder why they closed you up? Most underrated offering: Wedge Fries.

They sell the Little Snackers here for a buck:

Last week, I noticed that the local Taco Bell/KFC combo restaurant was "half-closed."

Last time I went to a KFC was about 10-15 years ago after ordering a couple of pot pies over the phone. A splurge back then—now my wife wouldn't eat something like that in a million years.

Anyway, I went in to pick them up, and after about 15 minutes of assuring me they were almost ready, I was told they had misplaced the order and that they were sold out of them.

Ah, KFC reminiscences . . .
There used to be one that had bulletproof glass and as I recall some sort of revolving thing to pass the "food" out of on the north side of Chicago right off 90/94 (at Fullerton just east of Western for those who know Chicago), back in the 80s. It's been gone a long time, but that neighborhood has gentrified so much it's hard to imagine such a thing ever existed there.

I love KFC! Will get some tomorrow. There is only one Dunkin' Donuts left in town, tho.

What's weird about KFC is that when you find a good one it's delicious, but on the flip side there are some godawful ones out there and heaven help you if you eat at one of them...there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of consistency which makes me afraid to try one unless I've gotten recommendations from people I know.
