You're gonna LOBE this - Apple switching to new screw type
#1
They're switch form phillips head to a "pentalobe" head screw making it more difficult for users to service their own products.

Nothing new. They've had 3-lobed screws before and now have 5-lobed ones. Repeat of Torx back in the '80s. It cost me $8 to get a 30 piece set which opens all of these.

Ooops, sorry. Insert "Apple's screwing me" comment here.

You've got drivers for three- and five-lobe screws?

Where?

I got a set of quarter-inch "bits" for about $10- it has several kinds including "security torx", but no lobes.

Bollocks. They already did, and those drivers are, of course, easily available. I can remember the old speciality Mac Plus Case Cracking Kits with the long torx driver and the metal clamp to use as a separator and spudger.

No problemo. What man can put together, man can take apart.

NOW.. when they start fabbing the things as one integrated circuit, THEN we're screwed.

there are also some 5 lobe security screws / fasteners with the little stud in the center that requires a screwdriver with a hole in the center.
