Fry's B&M stores now price matching Internet dealers.
#1
I was looking at the big Friday Fry's ad in the newspaper and noticed that The banner says, "We will meet any Internet price from any authorized dealer." It says the item must be ready to ship, from the Internet source, and that they will meet the "delivered" price. They go on to say this is a 30 day guarantee and they will refund 110% of the difference, if you bought the item from Fry's and find a lower price locally or online.

There is some other fine print, and I finally found it on their website. I don't remember them doing an Internet price match before, but maybe I am wrong.

Fry's price match verbiage

WOW! In the past, they would not even match their OWN internet prices, so this seems like a big deal.

Thanks for confirming this is something new. I thought I hadn't seen it before, but thought I might have just missed it.

They started doing this about 3 weeks ago.
Another catch is that the other seller must be an authorized dealer with it in stock.
Yea-I always thought it was funny that they didn't match their own internet pricing.

I can only imagine the hoops they make you jump through to get this. Anyone who has ever purchased an item from or returned an item to Fry's knows what I'm talking about.

I have asked them to honor their ONLINE price at times and they would not.

Where is our ex-Fry's employee?

Actually, I don't know what you mean, I've been shopping at Fry's starting at their original Lakeside Drive Sunnyvale store in 1985, and I've done dozens of price adjustments and returns over the year, and other than the wait in the return line, it's always been fast and trouble free for me.

I especially don't know what you mean about purchasing an item, I think their one queue feeding a large bank of cash register stations is far more efficient than places like Wal-Mart or Costco.

But maybe this is all because I'm very familiar with their store, know where everything is, and don't talk to any of the sales people.

Returns: Stand in return line, wait forever, finally get helped, wait as your return is given the thrice-over, wait for a manager to arrive to approve return, get issued a green credit slip, get sent to second line with said green credit slip, stand in second line, wait forever, finally get helped, get refund.

Purchases aren't too bad, unless the line is long. God forbid you pay with a personal check, though.

I always pay with a credit card, and when I do a return or price adjustment, I tell them that I want it refunded to my credit card. They give you the green slip showing the credit has been issued, and you're done. No store credit and no additional lines. The only time a second person gets involved is a supervisor needs to enter a password to approve the credit given that Fry's doesn't trust any single employee with their money. But there is a supervisor hovering around the return area going from person to person doing the approvals.
