I'm contemplating the 'theoretical' candidacy of Mr. Gingrich. After the Democrats successfully demonized him in the 1990's, is the Republican party going to intelligently allow him to be used as a 'Judas Goat'... presenting a nice juicy target for Democratic dirty trick, and therefore removing some level of negative attention from a 'stealth candidate' ?
I wonder.
No link.. this is my personal theory.

Newt makes his living as a perpetual candidate for president. What else does he do? I don't see how he could have much credibility on the national stage following the inflammatory public remarks he's made since 9/11. This man doesn't need anyone to demonize him, he manages fine on his own.
My money is on Mitt Romney for Republican candidate 2012. Mitch Daniels might have a shot, he seems to be trying hard to position himself as a moderate lately.

Newt needs to look at the wall and read the writing on it. That said, I don't think he has a
snowball's chance of winning. Newt is a supporter of the Dream Act. I suspect George Soros
has funded Gingrich's campaign. Newty will lose in a landslide. And 'global warming' doomed
you. Hugging Nacy Pelosi didn't help, either. Another has-been Republican thinking of himself
not the country. "Move along, nothing here to see."

If the RNC doesn't control their governors they aren't going to have a snowball's chance in hell regardless of whom they run. The middle class will have no choice but to vote Democratic.

I do not think that anybody on the Dems side thinks of him as a remotely serious candidate. More like he is a target to see what the extremes in their own party will use, so they can develop defenses for the real candidates that are still sitting in the wings.

I think the real Republican candidates are hanging back and most will wait for the next cycle. Much as some of the hard core right would like to think Obama is a 1-term president, he's going to be hard to beat.
