For those who want to help out our animal compadres in Japan, I have found a couple of links:

My wife has a crying fit when she sees the devastation to animals after natural disasters (and human cruelty too). Katrina, Haiti, et al.
Thanx for the links.

Since Friday, I have noticed that we all seem to be rubberneckers to this disaster and not enough (or nothing) has been posted as to how any one of us can step forward and do something to help. It's been all about how the reactors are failing or how idiots are being washed away in California by the tsunami, etc.

That's very sad because it speaks to a great passivity and an over-reliance on others. Maybe you can't drop everything and fly off to Tokyo tomorrow but I urge you to do something other than to gawk. If you can post links to charitable or humanitarian organizations on here it would be nice and if you can donate money/supplies/equipment that would be even better.

And if you are off to Tokyo, then, you're a hero.

IronMac,
Some of us are humbly doing our share behind the scene and unwilling to publicize about it on a forum Wink

Please don't come to Japan. Send the money you would use on airfare instead. I lived through the Kobe earthquake (3000 dead within 10 km radius of my house) and now am watching this one from western Japan. Well intended people tried to come in to help us, but just got in the way and required help just getting around. This isn't Haiti. Send money. Japan Red Cross donations can be handled through iTunes.

I donated to the Red Cross over the weekend. Looking over the animal rescue links now.

Scroll down past the human aid suggestions and you'll find the animal orgs taking donations

Perhaps, it's repetitive but it's worth mentioning again: be aware of scammers during the time of crisis. Go with well-known and established orgs.
