CL: do you follow up with your buyers?
#1
I sold an item on CL, buyer lived 1 mile from me, on my way to work, so I agreed to drop off the APC UPS to his place. his wife gave me the cash. That was on Monday.

Now I wonder if I should send follow up email to the guy, like "thank you for your business, hope you are satisfied with your purchase" or maybe I should not even bother?

I've never done that or had anyone contact me after I bought something. I don't think it's the custom. If you have commercial sales, that might be different.

While nice, most people do not bother - simply because it is not like you have a Storefront on Craigslist where they can easily find you again and check out your recent wares for repeat business.

Obviously there is contact information between you, and although a 'done deal', I'm sure he might follow-up if there was an issue that he just felt like you should know.

With that said, if you feel inclined to send a nice email like that, I would say do it. I would certainly enjoy that touch of class, but it is not the norm (again), to respond to your question.

One of my reservations in regard to selling on craigslist is that the people are local and could potentially come back to haunt you if they happen to be having a bad mental health decade. Obviously this is a bit more of a concern regarding buyers but can also apply to sellers.
I'd be just a hair creeped-out to receive such a message, personally.

That said I have a friend who lives in Eugene Or. who is a retiree and buys and sells on cl partly to fill up his time-- he's met some neighbors and become friendly with them via craigslist.

Unless you are expecting repeat business from this customer, I would consider the case closed and not initiate any communications.

I don't see any pattern in your posts.

Wonder if I should contact the lady who bought my 32 GB wifi iPad the day before the new one came out and all the prices dropped. She's probably just pissed. I sort of feel bad. Oh well.
