Here's what came out of eBay's Town Hall Meeting this week about fee restructing
#1
Y'all are probably getting tired of seing these posts about eBay but I know there's quite a few folks
on here that sell on eBay.

http://blog.auctionbytes.com/cgi-bin/blo...31288.html

They even admit that, "We realize there is no such thing as free shipping" but that's what they
really want sellers to offer. There's 6 pages of comments on this meeting so far.

Basically they're telling sellers to add the price of shipping into the cost of their item and list is as free
shipping but they admit there's no such thing as free shipping. So you'll pay fees on shipping through
PayPal and to eBay, effectively doubling the fees on shipping. The people calling in kept telling the panel
that most buyers look at the total price of an item and not whether free shipping is offered or not. eBay
is trying to get control of sellers selling items for .99 and $100 shipping. They have put limits on shipping
in certain categories but not all. I know video game systems it's $15 no matter what's included or where
it's going unless you use calculated shipping. CD and DVD's I think it's $3 which means Media rate,
slow as molasses, or you lose money and use Parcel Post or Priority.

I have to wonder if it's legal to charge fees on a service that they have nothing to do with, shipping cost.
It's solely up to the seller to take care of getting an item to the buyer in whatever manner they see fit. They've
already said that it's your sole responsibility until the item reaches the buyers hand, that's why they took out
insurance as an option, they claim you have no right to offer insurance as an option that the seller should
pay for it, this happened a long time ago.

I like what this person said, they are referring to a comment made over the phone with the panel at eBay:

"Questions about eBay Fee Structure at Town Hall Meeting"

"The people running Ebay could not even grasp what the seller was explaining when he said he sells items for $3.99 with $4.00 shipping. He tried explaining that 5 items bought at $3.99 with a combined shipping cost of $4 would be a total cost to the buyer of $23.95. Or maybe the added items make the shipping say $6 for a $25.95 total. But adding the $4.00 ship into the $3.99 cost would make each item $7.99 with free shipping. But the geniuses running Ebay didn't catch on. Now a shopper buying 5 at $7.99 bid price would be $39.95; instead just $23.95. So the buyer who's shopping for several items from 1 seller; doesn't buy from the seller with free shipping who's jacked his price higher due to free ship bs; he buys from the seller who has the much lower bid price. As Ming said; this goes beyond anything funny; it's pure evil to take money that sellers collect for USPS and boxes they use. both my ebay stores will close in June if Ebay goes through with this"

Yeah they always say that but they never leave. The closest Comp. to eBay is probably eBid and I've looked
at the completed items over there and the success rate is not that high. I think eBid currently has over
4,000,000 items on it right now, I have no idea how many eBay has.
