How to convert PDF to ePub on my iPhone
#1
Hello!
I would like to convert a PDF file to ePub format for reading it on an iPhone.
Is there an online/desktop tool that will allow me to do that?
Thanks.

Try Calibre. It's free.

Why would you want to convert them?

The iBooks app opens PDF files natively now. Any decent ereader app on the iPhone will open PDF docs.

'Seems kind of silly to endure the inevitable loss of formatting and screwed up text that come with conversion when you can read the files in their native format.

You can do it with Calibre, but as pointed out, it seems like an extra unnecessary step that will result in a lower quality result.

you can also use Goodreader to do an on-the-fly conversion of a PDF to text, which allows you to resize text and it flows nicely on your phone, so there's not alot of scrolling. You can always switch back and forth between PDF and text view if there are figures/tables or other things that don't get converted properly.

Have you ever tried to read a scientific article on an iPhone, the columns in the pdf make you scroll way too much and sometimes the text is still too small to read. Making it a text document that the phone actually will size to fit the screen is helpful.

Do you have a Gmail account? You can save pdfs or pretty much anything to Google Docs and read them in Good Reader without having to convert.
Also, you may try this tutorial about how to convert PDF to ePub on iPhone. Results depend entirely on the PDFs that you want to convert.
Glad that you got it working.

First please make sure you have installed iBooks app in your iphone. If you don’t have it yet you can go to the iTunes Store to download one and it will be automatically installed the next time you sync your iPhone to your computer. Open the PDF file in the iBooks app and now you can enjoy your epub ibooks. Beside, you can ask Google how to convert PDF ebook to epub format and he will give you recommendation of useful converter and instructive articles. And you can refer to this article about how to convert pdf to epub on Mac.

iBooks reads PDFs, if your looking to have the nice features of iBooks; like the page turning and such then you can convert it. If you just care about reading, get goodreader. It's a must have app for any iOS device. Or, just use iBooks to read the PDF.
