Another Norwegian tries to break in the cockpit

I am sure there is a misunderstanding here. Let't give him the benefit of the doubt. No rush to judgment please.

Oh come on. Haven't you ever mistaken the cockpit for the restroom?
Give the guy some slack...

Almoraissi said he could not imagine what might have caused his cousin to act as authorities allege he did on the plane, but was certain Al-Murisi was not a terrorist. He said his cousin did not show an interest in politics and was not intensely religious.

"He might have seriously mistaken the cockpit for the bathroom," Almoraissi said. "He's only been on three planes in his whole life." Al-Murisi was taking classes in California to learn English but was not happy with his progress, his cousin said.

Hmm...

Ain Alhamaam? = Where is the toilet !

Yeah.. there is actually enough similarity between that an "Allahu Akhbar" that it might have been misunderstood.

I was once on a hajji flight from Karachi to Kuwait. Let me tell you.. flying with 200+ men who had never flown in an airplane before, and obviously (from the restroom debris) had never seen a sit down flush toilet.... It was very amusing. It was more like flying with a particularly rambunctious kindergarten class... everything was new and strange.

Ya this is truly a weird case. I'm sure the passengers were having bathroom emergencies of their own watching this.
My bet would be on mental illness/anxiety, at the very least he probably just himself a spot on the no fly list.

I wam willing to grant him the benefit of the doubt but can't a flight crew say for sure which door he was banging on?

I was on a plane flying to Memphis and before taking off the pilot warned us that he was going to have to fly through a storm to get us up there, so there would be some serious turbulence. When we hit it, I was not happy (being a white-knuckle flier) but I had been warned so it wasn't as frightening as one might imagine.

However, the woman behind me began wailing "Oh, dear God help us, Oh Lord Lord please help us OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD Oh sweet Jesus" etc etc. Finally I yelled, "You are making everything worse so cut it out" and the person next to her started shushing her.

Which is a really long way of saying maybe he WAS yelling Allahu Akhbar because he was freaking out about flying.

Interestingly, that Sky West pilot got no such benefit of the doubt. He was guilty form the get go.

Are you serious? The 2 imams on the Atlantic Southeast flight were not banging on the cockpit door, they were not behaving inappropriately at all. The pilot didn't like their outfits or skin color. BTW, that airline came out with yet another apology and a statement saying they opposed discrimination...blah blah blah...expecting a disciplinary statement on the pilot soon.

All that may have been true in the end but you just could not wait to find out. You went live about a minute into the story.
