The MacBook Air’s not the only Mac waiting on Lion before it gets sent out to the Apple Store: new Mac Minis featuring Sandy Bridge innards and ThunderBolt ports are also in the same boat, as well as new Cinema Displays.

Wait. Every single time the Mini hasn't been updated in a long time the fool pundits start saying that its gonna be discontinued. Have they finally figured it out after 6 years?

As long as they don't use the DEFECTIVE Sandy Bridge chips.....

Intel Exec: "I know ! We'll sell those to Apple ! They'll never know !"
Intel QA guy: "Not a good idea. They'll switch back to Moto !"

The low power Sandy Bridge is new enough that it will have the fix, and it only affected computers that had more than 2 ports so no laptops had a problem (except for non-Apple laptops with things like eSATA or the behemoths that had 3 internal drives)

:jest: Good one, Intel QA is one of the least important departments in the company. Moto never recovered from Intel poaching a third of their best PPC engineers.

This is a very unusual move for Apple. At risk are the summer quarter sales typically made to educational customers preparing for the new school year. They must be very confident of two things: 1) Lion's release schedule, and 2) Lion's appeal to Mac users.

It seems like a lot of people have cash burning in a hole in their pocket waiting for the MacBook Airs to come out...

I'm one of them too...

Not sure I need a MacBook Air (my daughter does her best to break every laptop I own), but I'd like a new Mac mini.
