Maggie is the latest addition to our pack.
I wrote about her when we first saw her.
Her story starts at our local shelter almost 3 weeks ago - we were there looking for winery cats, and the head of Animal Control, who got Ike and Greta for us came up and said Hi, how are the Dobies? As we were chatting, he told us he had just brought in an English Mastiff who had been running loose for several months. Finally they caught her by feeding her drugged hot dogs.
We saw her that day and put an immediate hold on her.
She was very scared and the shelter workers were concerned that she might be too feral to tame. We began visiting her alternating between myself and Larry. Very soon we were in her cage sitting on the floor with her and she quickly turned out to be a very sweet girl - very big but sweet (see photo). Today we "sprung her from jail". We took her to the vet - got her vaccinations, and determined she was not spayed (that will be taken care of ASAP). A good bath at home took care of a lot of loose hair and months of dirt and odor.
Introductions to the three Dobermans went well. Greta is ignoring her, she respects Truman and wants to play with Ike - so I think she will fit in fine.
