Obligatory post from the sick bed...

Re: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1...18,1168708

Thanks again for the info and war stories.

'Turns out that it was, in fact, an infected gallbladder from stones.

It swelled up so much that it crawled up inside my liver. 'Started to go into shock on the way to the doctor.

Had a nice lil ambulance ride to the hospital where the ER docs completely misdiagnosed me. Had I not insisted vehemently that my symptoms matched gallstones and demanded a sonogram they'd have treated me for a panic attack.

5 hours of surgery instead of the usual 1.

Not sure how long the recovery will be.

Morphine rules! Never turn down morphine.

Glad to see you are on the mend. Re: morphine. Not everyone benefits the same. My uncle in particular has hallucinated as much as had pain relief from it.

'Wondered where you got to.

Good to hear you're apparently on the mend.

Morphine has it's place I suppose, but I've always been very leery of narcotics, and turned it down when I had a kidney stone. I confess I almost changed my mind, because it was the worst pain I've ever had, and for some reason the type and location of it made me feel that at any moment it was going to get worse.

Not everyone benefits the same...

Not to mention that not everybody gets pain relief from morphine. I don't know how common that is, but sometimes Demerol has to be used instead.

good to hear you'll b ok.

had mine out. thought i had rib pains for years until i finally had stones that made me turn yellow and go to the hospital. i used to have a skewed idea of what a 'hospital trip worth' of pain was. i should have went the first time it pained me since it was huge pain. now i know better.

get well soon.
