The most interesting and useful in this list:
Lion can troubleshoot and reinstall without a CD
The next time you need to repair your disk or restore your computer from a backup, you won’t need to search for an external boot disk, those old restore CDs, a FireWire cable, or anything, really. In Lion, your computer will have its very own restore partition pre-installed.
The partition—which takes up a measly 600MB or so—is all but invisible, tucked away in a corner of your hard drive until you have need of it. When you hold down the option key while booting your computer, the partition will show up next to your primary partition as Restore HD; click it, and you’ll be brought into recovery mode. Here, you can restore your computer from a Time Machine backup, reinstall Mac OS X, troubleshoot your system using Disk Utility, or get help online by using a built-in version of Safari. You can use the browser to access Apple’s Website, where you can make an appointment to see a Genius if you can’t figure out how to troubleshoot your problem on your own, or any other site on the Web.

Unlikely I will be upgrading unless I can find a new e-mail program - Rosetta will be dead and I am wedded to Eudora.

Lack of Rosetta is gonna be a gotcha for some, of course. I have some AppleWorks stuff I need to try and get into iWorks, which I understand can import it.
Then again, I can't remember the last time I needed AppleWorks for either creation or reading a document.
Eudora? Really?

That first thing mentioned-the auto correction. Just today I looked for a way to turn it off on my iPad and failed. Been bugging me for quite some time. It had better be defeatable in Lion. I'd much rather see a red underline and go back and fix it than have it correct on the fly and still be wrong in a different way and harder to fix.

Lion cannot troubleshoot anymore than any other OS can. It can do the other stuff.
Disk Utility is not a troubleshooter, it repairs the disk and repair disk permissions. It erases, partitions, formats, creates disk images, mounts, unmounts, ejects. That's it. Period. That's all it ever did in any other OS, and that's all it does in Lion.
What Lion has is the option to use DU without booting from the OS disk, use TM, and lets you run Safari to get online. That is new, and it is great.
It is also necessary, as you will have no Lion Disk unless you have burned one yourself.

Run a virtual machine with 10.6 (or earlier if supported on your hardware)
Now the question is which software is best for running virtual OS X (instead of Windows?)
That's what I'm gonna do.

gotta leave eudora someday - might as well be now.
eudora did things very differently - poorly most of us would say, but the ones that like the way it does it's thing REALLY like it... and they are doomed....
someone needs to create a email site that collects your email and presents it eudora style - whoever does that would get a small, but SOLID following till they die off.

Well put. I have friends who were absolutely married to Eudora and waited and waited before switching. But eventually, they knew the switch needed to happen, and they did.

I never got to use Euroda... had in installed on a computer at university, but at that time I was using PINE. What does Eudora do better than most email clients?
Thanks
