OT: do you ever lie (make false statements)?
#1
I got this co-worker which I don't get. When it's about very important issues, he is probably the most trustworthy and dedicated person around here. When it comes to less important things, he is full of lies.

examples: I never saw him making false statements about someone else, nor about very important work projects.

But when it comes to little things, like did you break this tool? did you borrow my camera? Did you leave that door open? he always says "No!". I saw him doing all these things, yet he would never admit it until I tell him "I saw you."

One thing I've learnt at a pretty young age was that if I told lies, I could never sleep sound at night. One way or another my parents would eventually find out. Sometimes in the same day, sometimes weeks later, and this waiting game would make me sick and tired. So I learned it's better to tell them the truth when I did something bad, and move on.

I'm with ya. There isn't anything I find I need to lie about (and there aren't many things I despise much more than someone outright lying). I may not always disclose all information which some may find deceitful but I don't have a need to lie (and I do see a difference).

My GF's oldest son will lie about anything, just so he won't get yelled at. Then he gets yelled at even more. Then he complains we don't trust him.

That kid is too stupid for his own good, yet he has a near-genius IQ. We hope he can complete his toilet training before he graduates high school.

I read something very recently to the effect that we all lie about once every 10 minutes in everyday conversation. Just small inconsequential stuff mainly, but we all do it.

Here's how to answer that type of question with integrity. Just say, "I've seen worse."
