I don't want to be condescending, but what the heck is it with rice cookers anyway? Rice is, like the easiest thing in the world to cook. Unless you're feeding a huge crowd, why would you need this?

Sorry. I know Zojirushi is an excellent company, but I just don't understand the need.

Rice cookers are extremely convenient. Dump everything in a turn them on. No watching, no scorching, and no burning. If you can cook rice perfectly and time it every meal, then you are a better cook than I. As condescending as that may have sounded, I didn't mean it that way. I need a rice cooker. Smile

I don't have a rice cooker, but I do have a toaster which I don't use every day.

If I were Asian, and ate basic white rice every day, I'd want need a rice cooker.

We eat rice like a lot of people eat potatoes. Our rice cooker is very convenient, doesn't occupy a burner on the stove.

I finally broke down and bought a rice cooker awhile back. One of the best decisions I ever made. No watching the rice, I know exactly when it is going to be done, very easy to clean and no burnt pans. It is the way to go.

you must be particularly skilled at cooking rice. i know a number of foodies who are also accomplished cooks and they prefer using the rice cooker.

i have a larger model i got for $20 on CL. i love it!
