Federal investigators are probing how a stun gun disguised as a cell phone ended up on a flight from Boston to Newark, N.J.

All 96 passengers had already deboarded JetBlue [JBLU] flight 1179 at Newark Liberty International Airport Friday when a cleaning crew discovered a “suspicious object in a seatback pocket” shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to the discount airline.

“It looked like a cell phone,” said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “Our police responded, and we did a precautionary search of the plane.”

The next flight was delayed by approximately 30 minutes as a K-9 unit checked for other contraband.

and my sister-in-law had her jewelry stolen out of her checked luggage at Newark. they have full control of your luggage, and can arrest you if you have anything they don't like, but if their employee steals from you, tough sh!t -- they're not responsible.

TSA is pure BS designed to make it look as though we're doing something. They're too predictable to actually catch any terrorists. We should use the Israeli system.

I agree. I hate to pile on with bitching about the TSA, but it's exactly the response the terrorists were hoping for: something that costs us billions of dollars, impedes travel, humiliates Americans and turns us against each other.
