Super committee Senate Dems: Murray, Baucus, Kerry
#1
Not sure what Kerry is doing there, but Murray and Baucus are excellent picks. Murray is a great advocate for SS and Medicare and for veterans. Republicans generally hate her, which means she's doing something right.
Good job Harry Reid.

Based on the way Baucus handled the health bill and that he comes from a state that is pretty conservative, I don't think he is a particularly good choice. I hope Polosi puts Barney Frank on the committee.

Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Also, I think they think he is "scrappy" because he's been speechifying against the right wing, although I'm really not inclined to feel that way about him.

Kerry is there because although he has a partisan reputation (partly because of his presidential run), he's a classic deal-brokering pragmatist Senator who knows how the chamber works. Here's hoping his wisdom still has some relevancy.

Oh hell, yeah.

ON a slight tangent, did you hear Frank snark at his interviewer on npr the other morning. It was great, they asked him a question and as he was attempting to answer it they told him he was out of time and he said, don't ask me a question about a complicated subject and then give me 5 seconds to answer it (something along those lines). I loved it.

Not really wanting to start that debate again, but if not for Baucus we'd have no health care reform law in place. He was the original advocate for getting cost containing measures in place. The bill passed is not perfect but is a framework upon which future improvements can build. As is the case with all major social legislation in our country.

That answer is better than mine.

Yes, I hope so too. Maybe he'll have some sway in directing cuts at the Pentagon.
It will be interesting to see who Pelosi picks.

In the spirit of not getting into that debate again, I'll just say that I think that any positives he contributed were way outweighed by the negatives.
