For those who have missed it,

http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/107...msg-107009.
And here is the latest: The brand spanking new glass is in! The work is guaranteered for as long as my S/O owns the car. Safelite instructed us to wait for two days before taking the car to a drive-through carwash. Is there anything else we should be aware of?
We'll be calling around for different insurance's quotes comes next week. And we'll be adding on a coverage for damaged windshield as well.

If you are going to do a RainX on it - doing it before you get much road filth on the window would be a really good idea.
I had one done a year ago. GA doesn't cover windshields as per law (no deductible), so I found one, new, installed, for $199. The place did used ones for $99 - but didn't have mine.

change the wiper blades, don't slam the door, keep a window open just a crack for a couple of days

We were told to leave the windows cracked for the first 24 hours, also not to wash it for a couple of days.

If you use Rain-X, just buy Rain-X Windshield Washer Fluid and it will put it on
everytime you wash. It's great stuff. They make it in Winter and Summer Forumla.

I finally had mine replaced about three months ago after a couple of years of three separate cracks progressively growing and finally joining. Actually had a nice, unblemished windshield for a whopping two weeks before one of those big trucks tossed a rock and gave me a new crack. I can't win.

Shooh, I should have thought of getting an used windshield and save some money.
