27" iMac arrived... Missing recovery discs?
#1
Hmmm, the white box arrived today (refurbished) and everything looks perfect. Doing a migration assistance via USB and my last time machine backup (21 minutes remaining). Kind of surprised that they forgot my recovery discs... Or are these a thing of the past? I'll call Apple in the AM.

So, how do I recover "if need be" Lion and iLife? Just asking... I don't overly care as long as I'm prepared.

Yeah, and where is my FW400, SCSI!!! WTF!

I was only asking. I realize Lion is only available in the software store or a USB drive. But though they still included some sort of disc utilities.

Yeah, it's awesome. You have to download the lion recovery program onto a flash drive where it will remain invisible until you need it. Then it will download the 40 trillion gig program via your inet connection.

Try to explain this to someone who just uses a computer as a tool and doesn't even own a propeller cap.

Refurb 21 iMac arrived the other day.

I think with Lion there is a recovery partition on the hard drive. Try starting up with the Option key held down to check.

Of course if that's corrupted...

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next couple of years.

Good luck.
