A newish phrase that simply MUST GO!

It is what it is...

Ok, it's NOT new, but it's fricken EVERYWHERE now. You can't listen to a single sports interview without hearing that phrase at least once...

It seems to be code for, "I'm not really sure..." or "If I had a better vocabulary, I could give you a real answer"

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22It+is+what+it+is%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

(21 million hits - ugh...)

It is what it is (ironically, a perfectly appropriate response)

The latest phase I'm sick of:

"I know, right?"

or the shortened

IKR?

I actually like the phrase simply because it's a sign of people letting go of something they have no control over. Their car was stolen - "It is what it is" seems like a better response than being angry.

I am trying to think of alternatives that capture the same essence, like "such is life" but I actually dislike that one more.

I'm sure there is a better way to say it, but what is it?

Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.
